Check all of the options for viewing the character types you want to see
on you displaying of the document.

I have 3.4.5, so it should be the same for 3.5.0.

With LO 3.5 writer, non printable characters like dots between words or the
lines break are not visible. Do I have to set something in the option or is
it a LO 3.5 problem?

Look in the toolbar that has a question mark icon in it. To the
left of it is another icon that is the symbol used for paragraphs. Click
it to either show the non printable characters or not to show them.
