Have you tried to change owner? If you are the only user try this: sudo
chown <user_name> <path_to_the_font>

<user_name> = your login name
<path_to_the_font> = location of the font (end of the location must end
with the full name of the font
e.g. /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-liberation/liberationmono.ttf)

After that try to use

> 3. sudo fc-cache -v -f

For me works: fc-cache -fv

You might need to use that comand like sudo user.
