Assumptions- you have no idea how to
setup paragraph style or any other sort of style.
Start with a clean new document.
Begin-
How to do it;
Tools----Outline Numbering
Under Paragraph Style select----Heading 1
Under Number select--None
Under Character Style select---Internet
Link
Click OK at the bottom of the Outline
Numbering to close the screen
Next to the do the following;
Insert---Manual
Break----------Page Break
This will insert a new 2ndpage.
Page down to page 2
In the top left corner of page 2 type
the following word in the top left corner of the page;
Hello
Select the wordHello and click
on the Apply Style toolbar box and selectHeading 1
Go back to the top of page 1
Select Insert-------Indexes and
Tables------Indexes and Tables
Click on the Entries tab
On the Structure and Formatting
portion of the
screen look at the Structure part.
Go to the first blank white box and
click the "Hyperlink" button then click "All"
Go to the last blank white box and
click the "Hyperlink" button then click "All"
Click OK to close the screen
That should present you with a Table
of
Contents with Hello as a click-able link
No doubt you'll have to figure out
more proper formatting but so far I've never found any simply
instruction on how to do the above. Do I know what I'm doing- of
course not...but I got 1 link to work!
Many thanks to the inspiration ofTom" D.... on this list.

OK, let me ask some simple questions.
1) Do you know how to use styles? Specifically, do you know how to use
the Styles and formatting window? (Chapters 6 and 7 of the Writer Guide)
2) Does your document contain headings that describe the paragraphs
which follow each heading?
3) Are these headings the ones that you want to create links to in the
table of contents? (If not, specifically, what type of text do you want
to have links to in the TOC?)

Sorry about the messed up email folks.
No idea.
I do know I solved the problem I had. With that I'm happy. Just
finished editing a 250 documents with hyperlinks in the TOC using my method.
