Hi :) Are you able to get 11.04 to revert to the "Classic Interface / Desktop Environment"? When the login box appears after you restart the machine look at the bottom taskbar/panel. Somewhere there it should have a drop-down (well, drop-up i guess) or button or something that mentions "interface", "gui", "desktop environment" (DE) or "session type" or something. It's worth having a look at the other options on the taskbar/panel too. Hopefully it should let you switch back to the Gnome DE which it calls the "Classic" interface. If you want to revert to a previous version of Ubuntu i have a neat trick that avoids losing data or settings. I keep meaning to write it up somewhere. Do you want the trick?
