Opening Word Perfect files should work, the file type is listed under

I did not pay attention to the list of file types as OO.o used to
recognize the format from the first few bytes. Apparently, LO doesn't.

the problem was that the extensions were .wp (since WP never bothered
with
extensions anyway) and I changed them to .wpd.
Good trick to remember, check to make sure the extension is wpd not wp.
With that extension and specifying to LO that they're WP docs, the
problem
is resolved.
