Perhaps the java issue? Which version of java are you trying to use? You can see by going to
Tools - Options - Java
Anything more recent than their 6u21 gets increasingly difficult. My guess is that you are on
6u24. If you can find the older 6u21 then you can install it alongside the existing version of
java. Then go back to
Tools - Options - Java
to set which version of java LibreOffice is using. I think web-browsers and other prgrams keep
using the highest version number.
