Subject: Live Word Count - still missing after how many years?

Can somebody PLEASE put in an optional live word/character/etc counts in the
status area?
Word counts are tremendously important to just about everyone who writes
professionally, whether they are academics, novelists, students, reporters
or what have you. People have requested it probably a few thousand times
since OO first hit the scene.

It can't be a hard thing to add... The basic functionality is there, all
that's required is to alter how, and when, the information is processed and
displayed to the user.

There is also an extension, Instant Word Count, on the extensions website that seems to do what you want. http://extensions.libreoffice.org/extension-center/instant-word-count. It is listed as compatible with LibreOffice 3.3 and 3.4.
