Hi :)
MariaDb is a fairly recent fork of MySqL in much the same way
as LibreOffice is a 'fairly recent' fork of OpenOffice.  Lots of
development and a very active community surging forwards and creating
an excellent product.

Apparently MariaDb / MySql might be a
lot heftier than most people need but it might be a great move for
corporate organisations.

This is something i particularly
like about Base.  It is highly scalable and suits a very wide range of
needs because it is so adaptable and can be an excellent front-end for so many different
circumstances.  I kept meaning to forward their recent announcement.
Regards from
Tom :)

We would also like to mention the release of the first MariaDB-specific

Launchpad, or use #maria on Freenode IRC. And please, enjoy 5.2.9!
