Hi :) I agree it's great news. If they have been doing this for a long while and getting good results on Windows installs then it's fantastic. Not all LO devs do most of their work on Gnu&Linux. Some use Bsd ;) Regards from Tom :) --- On Thu, 6/10/11, Pedro <pedlino@gmail.com> wrote: From: Pedro <pedlino@gmail.com> Subject: [libreoffice-users] MinGW master build To: users@global.libreoffice.org Date: Thursday, 6 October, 2011, 17:04 For those who haven't noticed the devs have managed to cross-compile Windows binaries under Linux using MinGW. http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/MinGW-cross-compilation-Runs-tt3380547.html I think these are fantastic news for two reasons: 1) because MinGW is an open source C compiler and is the obvious choice for an open source office suite like LO (doesn't make any sense relying on Microsoft Visual C++ compiler...) 2) because most (all?) LO devs run Linux and being able to create Windows binaries for the large (but compiler avert) mass of Windows users without leaving their "habitat" is fantastic Meanwhile, I downloaded the latest package from http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/MinGW_cross-compilation/master/current/ After unpacking the tar to replace my LibO-dev 3.5 (the working master from 13-09) I found two problems: 1) The icons are still missing as reported on this topic http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/Win-XP-Daily-master-build-tt3365471.html 2) I ran into the following error message: The application cannot be started. Cannot get C++ to binary UNO mapping! And loading stopped. I will check further on this one ;) If anyone has any tips, fire them away! -- View this message in context: http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/MinGW-master-build-tp3400162p3400162.html Sent from the Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com. -- For unsubscribe instructions e-mail to: users+help@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted -- For unsubscribe instructions e-mail to: users+help@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted
