Yes it's easy in Calc. And it should be too in Writer, but it doesn't.

Someone give me a workaround : using black for cells background color.
What I tried with shapes (View>Toolbar>Drawing) ended up in two lines, drawn in diagonal direction, with properties line white and 0.1 cm..
(send it to you directly)What I can imagine, is preparing one image black with white cross, and put in in the background of the table cell.
