Hi :)
If the format is xlsX then that could be the issue.  Can you use the older xls 
format instead?  or even better se the native ods format for the people using 
Calc and perhaps the xls for MS Office users.  I don't know if that would work 
but if it did it would be superb :)  Are you able to experiment?

Subject: [libreoffice-users] Calc 3.4 crash

We use LibreOffice to fill in a spreadsheet with each users individual
spreadsheet linked to one central spreadsheet. Calc 3.4 crashes with the
message "Due to an unexpected error, LibreOffice crashed". After recovering
the document the same thing happens again. Reverting to LibreOffice 3.3
clears the problem. This happens with all versions of 3.4 . What seemed to
be the same thing happened some time ago with OpenOffice but cleared with
the next version.
