I have a HP PSC1410 that I use for Windows and Ubuntu/Linux. I have not had any issues with printing.

When I did have issues [with OpenOffice.org 3.1], I deleted the folder that contained the personalized information, like last chosen printer options, and other options modified to my preferences. That brought me back to a "clean install" like dialog box when I opened LO after the installation. This reset all the preferences and fixed the printer errors. Maybe you have some corrupted items in the printer preferences.

I do not remember the where the actual folder is located. I rarely use Windows now. My only Windows system is not running at this time. So someone else on this list needs to look up where that preferences folder is. Also for XP, Vista, and Win7, the folder may be located in different places. XP and Vista's folders are in different places.

My only issue for printing is my Epson Artisan printer. The duplex options does not work. I still have not figured out what is needed to correct that, but I tend to print my documents to PDF files, and duplex printing with the PDF file viewer works well.

I appear to be having a similar problem in Writer.

Behavior is similar but not precisely what is described here:

I am running:
* Libreoffice - OOO340m1 (Build:203) and was having the same problem with
the newer Openoffice versions (ca 3.1 +) but now with earlier versions
before the print/page layout dialog was changed. (Aside from this problem,
these design changes are fantastic, by the way!)
* Windows XP
* HP 1350v Printer
* The problem does not arise when printing from any other software, so I am
certain it is not a problem with the driver or system software.

If it helps: My Windows system default printer settings for the HP printer
are: letter size, portrait orientation, 'fast normal' print quality.

Sorry if I'm too wordy here:

1. The Print dialog and the Properties dialog usually take an extremely long
time to appear: as much as 1 minute.

2. In LO the system printer property settings for my printer will change in
unexpected and undesirable ways when I change the size, quality or
orientation in the Print dialog or in the HP Properties dialog. This shows
up in different ways, depending on the changes I make.

Eg: I often want to print a 5.5" x 8.5" document in a horizontal layout - 2
pages per sheet on Letter paper. In the Print dialog I select the 'Page
Layout' tab then '2' pages per sheet. The preview updates to reflect the
change and all seems fine. But...
           * If I Print now, the document will not print rotated on a
landscape, letter-sized sheet, I will get the two pages reduced in size and
printed across the portrait width of the paper.
           * If I instead select the Properties button, it will show that my
paper size has been changed to A5 and the print quality is then changed to
"Normal" instead of "Fast Normal" (my system default) . I can correct these
values manually, but I find I must make the changes in a very specific
sequence or they won't 'stick:" For best results - first set the HP printer
to "Landscape, then change the paper size to 'Letter," then set the quality
to "Fast Normal." Then I can close the Properties dialog and it will print
the way I wanted.
           * I need to repeat these steps every time I open the Print dialog
to print this same document. After printing, or if I close the Print dialog,
none of my changed settings are retained, and none of them are saved with my
document.
