I'm running LibO 3.3.3 on Mac OS X 10.6.8.

I've got NetBeans 6.8 installed with the OpenOffice.org API plugin, version
2.0.6.

I'm trying to learn the basics of how to build client applications and
add-ons for LibO, and so I'm working my way through the DevGuide and running
the example programs.

For some reason I can't get the example FirstLoadComponent to work. It opens
LibO, but no new spreadsheet is created as it is supposed to be.

I'm curious if this is a compatibility issue (the last OpenOffice.org API
came out a while back) or if something else is going on.

Some research I've done suggests that maybe I need to start LibO in
"Listening Mode":

http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/DevGuide/ProUNO/Starting_OpenOffice.org_in_Listening_Mode

But I've tried this and it doesn't help.

Has anyone invented this wheel before?

P.S. I tried posting a similar question in the Developer's list-serve, but I
got no responses - I believe it's a bit too basic for the kind of work they
are doing over there, and I'm hoping someone over here can help.
