I had "Collect at end.." options checked but your answer helped me figure
out what I did wrong. When I selected the whole text, I didn't have any free
space left, so no matter what I tried, I created section 2 inside section 1,
that's what caused the trouble. Thanks for the quick help.

Best,
Kalev

This is what I need my document to look like:

1. Text
2. Endnotes for Text
3. Some more text
4. Possibly endontes for 'Some more text'

Pretty standard case I presume. I figured out how to use sections and I
think, starting with clean document I could accomplish this. However, I
already have a document, several pages and many endnotes and this turns
out
to be a bit of the problem. If I select all text and choose Insert ->
Section, I get a section with endnotes at the end of the text. If I now
try
to add second section and insert it after the first section's text, I get
the layout:

1. Section 1 text
2. Section 2 text
3. Section 2 endnotes
4. Section 1 endnotes

When I try to add section to the very end of the document, the section is
added to the last endnote and is treated as such, that is I cannot add
endnotes to it, I cannot add page break etc.

So, how to get the layout I need without new document and extensive
copy-paste action or migrating to MS Word (I now it can be done there
btw).
Oher means of help including OpenOffice and NeoOffice forums haven't
helped
so far.

I never hit that issue, but I decided to try it here, and yes, I see the
problem, just not exactly as you describe, I actually get

1. Section 1 text
2. Section 2 text
4. Section 1 endnotes
3. Section 2 endnotes

Still not what you want, anyway.

But in the section options (Format->Sections..., then select the section
(in this case, the first) and clicking in the "Options..." button),
enabling "Collect at end of section" for endnotes in the
"Footnotes/Endnotes" tab works for me, now I get

1. Section 1 text
4. Section 1 endnotes
2. Section 2 text
3. Section 2 endnotes

(But now there's no page break between the first section and its
endnotes.)
