Hi :)
I don't know enough about Impress to know of a more elegant way.  The proper 
Impress Guide is nearly ready for publishing but probably still needs some 
proof-reading.  Joining the Documentation Team to help with that would be a good 
way of learning a lot about Impress quite fast but hopefully soemone in this 
list might be able to give a better answer.

This is the first time I have heard about styles in relation to Impress
(although I know them well from Writer). But the docs didn't help.

I think it's more likely to be some quirk of 3.4.0 as it was unusually
buggy.  Can you try the very much more stable 3.3.3?  Here is a guide on
how to get both versions installed

Thanks, that did help. :-) I only needed to start 3.3.3 and saw that all the
bullets were already there with the correct color in my slide master, just
that 3.4.0 didn't display them. Should I report that as a bug?

Perhaps while I'm here, I can ask another question: in my slide masters I
carefully adapt where the text boxes (e.g. the title) are. Now I copy and
paste some slides from another presentation and apply my master style to them.
This only partly works, in that background, text colors, and bullets are
adapted. But the placement of the standard text boxes is not. Is there a way
to force that? Format -> Default Formatting is deactivated when I select the
whole slide or only the title box.
The only way I found was to create a new slide and copy the text contents
over, but that's clumsy.
