Hi,

I'm using some linked graphics in my writer document (I have at same
time to work on it). Te speed of the program is very slow. Every time
when I pass the page I have to wait some 10 seconds (if luck and they
are small) to 30 seconds (if they are bigger) seconds until I can
continue working and the computer reacts. The writer is consuming lots
of process power.

Unfortunately its the same with images within presentation. In this
case resoulutions with 100 dpi are enough for heavy load of the
system.

Some infos about it
- Resolution is 300 dpi (less is not acceptable for printing)
- Formats I'm suffering are Tiff, png, or eps-previews (all programms
are not able to display AND print something else then the preview of
eps
- seen on different mashines, smalles a netbook to biggest a 2,4 Ghz
2-Core computer, its also slow on a 4-Core computer with 64 bit and
lots of ram more acceptable -- but this is something I can only use
sometimes.

I turned off to display objects and graphics -- what is very
uncomfortable if someone needs to have an overview and wants to make a
layout.

I'm a not of friend of MS-Word, because other things are from my point
of view are not as good as in openoffice/libreoffice (and I'm now
mostly a Linux user), but performance of graphic displaying in such
cases was also using slower computers than I'm now using much better
in MS-Word since version 2003 (before it was also a desaster).

Has anybody an idea how to improve performance for raster graphics?
E.g. I would like to know if Is there a raster format, which
libreoffice likes very much and can display faster? Are the links the
problem? And if, why?

I know Scribus is much faster, but I need also lot of text
functionality I have in writer.

Thanks for good ideas and bye,
Sisyphos
