Hi,

I have problems with the report builder, such as
when I insert any vert. or horiz. lines in no matter what section
of the report (be it header, footer or detail) it doesnot get drawn
in libreoffice 3.3.1 but gets drawn in openoffice 3.2.
I don't know if it will be drawn in openoffice 3.3.1, since I haven't
installed that .
Someone else may confirm or not this ?

Already confirmed as bug 33617 :

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33617

And a feature request: I need to have the textbox bounderies in the
reportbuilder to be drawn, which is not
possible to set at this time.

Probably won't get done in the near future.

And another problem with the report builder uninstalled,
when using only the built in report generator-the resulting report
prints ok, but when I attempt to edit it, the formating changes
that I make to the report page (like left and right page margin, and
deleting the header or footer)
have effect only on the first page of the printed report. All subsequent
pages
are printed with the original formatting as of when the report was created.

I seem to recall that this was already a bug with OpenOffice.org. If it
ever gets fixed there, it will probably make it into the LibO code some day.

Unforunately, there are no "Base-specialised" developers on the LibO
project as far as I know at the moment, which means that any changes or
bug fixes are basically dependent on the people at Oracle fixing them in
the OOo code. As even there things appear to be running on very limited
resources, it looks to me at the moment as if the Base module in
general, both within OOo and even more so in LibO, has hit a kind of
brick wall. There also a few developers within LibO who believe that
database functionality is not a requirement for an office suite such as
LibO. It seemed obvious to me that similar thinking was present at one
time within Sun management before an opinion poll was carried out
amongst users by Sun and it became apparent that people did indeed want
improved database functionality in the office suite. That was when Base
version 2, as it stands in its present incarnation, was born. Having
recently exchanged e-mails with Fred Toussi, one of the devs from
HSQLDB, there are some interesting things planned for OOo with the
future integration of HSQLDB v2, which should improve both performance
and function outreach for the built-in databases (which will not be
without consequences for dbs based on the former 1.8.x versions though).
However, the LibO project appears more focussed on reducing Java
dependencies in general, and hence in the long term, HSQLDB might well
disappear from LibO. The question to be asked of the LibO developers is
"when" rather than "why", but probably not until a replacement can be
found (if at all).
