Some of us enjoy the native mysql support available from OpenOFFICE. I
believe we obtained the extension directly from the OPEN OFFICE site. I
have not been successful locating it at the LibreOffice site.
It was a delight to not have to use the odbc and/or java drivers just to
access mysql data via OOBase.
I look forward to when my favorite first class distribution offers the
mysql-extension in it's repositories.
Other distros have this extension available for LibreOfficeBase now.
This missing package will have an adverse effect on several projects.
I downloaded the extension for openoffice located at the link below.
It installs and works, but it is BRANDED ORACLE.

how long it will work is anyone's guess?
Well... it is written by Oracle... formerly Sun. Extensions developed
by Sun (before Oracle came along) were branded with Sun logos/names
etc., and when Oracle took control of Sun, the former Sun branded OOo
Extensions were rebranded as Oracle... for example
http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/en/project/PresentationMinimizer
used to be called Sun Presentation Minimizer.... and
http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/en/project/presenter-screen
used to be called Sun Presenter Console.
