Had someone over yesterday. She spent hours and hours, she said with
MSO, trying to get a spreadsheet made for a daily/weekly patient/client
log that was better than the one they currently had to use.
She saw how quickly I did the work in Calc and told me that every time
she tried to do the same with MSO, she could not get it to work
properly, since Excel insisted it be two page wide.
She was amazed how easy it is to do the work in Calc, over Excel. I did
not have the heart to tell her that I did it in Writer instead due to
the combination of text and tables. It would have been worse in Word if
she tried that.
So I think I will be giving her a DVD soon so she can dump MSO for
something better. Then hopefully her high school kids would pass it
around to their friends, etc., etc..
I just did the work for her and showed her how easy it was to use
LibreOffice. She did not have much time for me to go through the whole
package, since she had to go to her 2nd job she does 2 evenings a week.
So as soon as I can get her to sit down with me, I will show her how
"She too can have the best and easiest office suite on the market
today. Plus it is free." My substitute aide worker asked me "What is
the Catch". I said we are all volunteers wanting to develop, market,
and support the best package we can have that does not cost the user
anything to buy. She was impressed that there was a company out there
that was like that. She was not a "computer person" and did not know
what Linux was when I told her I use Linux instead of Windows.
So, two good impressions for the software and "company" in two days.
Thanks to the people who made it that way. Thanks Guys and Gals.
