I tested this issue on a Windows XP SP3 machine with

LibreOffice 3.3.0
OOO330m19 (Build:6)
tag libreoffice-3.3.0.4

(This is from PortableApps and running on my flash drive.)

and the comments I put into the document stayed.

Subject: [libreoffice-users] comments are disappearing

I've been using LibreOffice for a couple months now to grade student's papers,
to which I append ample comments. I've just discovered that when I save the
document in Microsoft 2007 format and then open it up again, all the comments
I've written disappear. I know now to not use this format any more, but I've now
lost comments for about 25 papers. Is there any way to retrieve them? Is that
information still contained somewhere within the file? Why would it even allow
me to add comments if it cannot save them?

Thanks.
