I actually remember Multimate and a few other ancient programs.
I did not see the extension or Multimate listed as format with a filter
when I checked.
Also, I did not see any extension that would allow the conversion.
I did find a few programs that convert some Multimate files to a modern
format
They are pricey, about $100 for a single user. Some will also convert on a
per file
basis to another format.
Once you get the file into modern format then LibreOffice can open most of
them.
Hope this helps you, sorry about the difficulty of converting an ancient
format
Regards,
Jay

The file extension is "*.dox" - Multimate is one of the first word
processors in the 1980's. It was before your time. Eventually,
Microsoft's WORD appeared, and then WORD PERFECT, etc. Ashton-Tate was
one of the main and major computer companies in the 1980's.
Subsequently, Microsoft has used the "*.dox" extension, and possible
other companies as well.
For the record: I have not downloaded LibreOffice yet. I wanted ananswer
on this question first.
