AbiWord and Gnumeric are very very much lighter but possibly lack some of the
functionality you might be looking for

Some old links here ...

I think they are about 20Mb each. Alternatively, why not try google-docs or
some other Office Suite that runs on the cloud so they do not need to be
installed on your machine? They do require a working internet connection of
course.

The advantage of LibreOffice or OpenOffice is the fairly advanced features and
some conveniences such as being able to set defaults to save as MS formats.

I am amazed that certain parts of LibreOffice apparently can't be un-installed
without affecting the rest as i am fairly sure i can do that in linux.

Good luck and regards from
Tom :)

Disk is cheap. Either upgrade your hard drive or install a second hard drive.

Hi,

I've just installed LibreOffice on a Mac; I'm a little surprised that I was
not given a choice of which parts I want to install. I have limited disc
space and only require word processor and spreadsheet. Is it possible to do
a partial install, or do I have to take all or nothing? Looking around I
can't see any option of uninstalling some elements and retaining others.
No, not that I know of, I am afraid it is all or nothing. Bear in mind
that even if you did just want the word processor and spreadsheet
functionality, you would not be able to use any of the database
functionality that is accessible from these modules, when the Base
module is also installed. If you want just a spreadsheet and just a word
processor, you would be better off looking at other solutions, at least
on the Mac.
