Is there a version of LO for Linux which will install without Java being

There are no java install packages in the DEB packages LO download. It installs
fine, though it will pick up an existing install of java if you have it
installed.
Installation issues can be package manager issues with the distro you are using ,
in Linux. Some 'might' have a recommends, suggested, or depends for java. AFAIKt
you don't 'have' to have java installed.
