Re: [libreoffice-marketing] Again LO is one in the "5 free downloads every student needs"

I think this part: "shell out for the king of productivity software Microsoft Office", is not necessary and this undervalues LibreOffice and gives an impression to the user that why should them download LO when they can get "the best" as said in the text.

Here is the text for an article where LibreOffice is [again] on the lists for what every students need to download.

This site is used by many people - know several locally - to "help" decide what is worth to try and/or use.  I get several of the types of e-newsletters a week coming from this service.  SO, several times a year LibreOffice is listed as the best alternative to MS Office.

Read the text and see if there is anything that should be changed/edited.

I really think having someone from the Board, or the Marketing person, should send to this service the major announcements for The Document Foundation and LibreOffice.

5 free downloads every student needs

Nothing beats free, especially for students who are tight on the budget. If you don't want to shell out for the king of productivity software Microsoft Office, then LibreOffice might just be enough for your needs.

LibreOffice is a free and open-source office suite that's compatible with Microsoft Office files. Since it's an open-source software, the program is continually updated at no charge to you.

LibreOffice offers six programs that will feel instantly familiar to you if you've used Office before. Writer, Calc, and Impress are equivalent to Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Even better, LibreOffice can open and edit the documents you made in Office and can save new files in Office formats.

Aside from Writer, Calc and Impress, LibreOffice includes drawing, database and equation programs, too. On top of these, there are plenty of extensions and templates you can add to give the program more features.
