It never happens. They are just trying to scam you out of unwanted domain
registrations with auto-renew.

indeed, that's what I heard as well - and I received similar mails for a couple of private domains as well, some of them with names that are rather uncommon both in Chinese and English, which makes me feel it's simply a bot mailing domain holders...
