Good evening to all,

Please take some time to read the attached pdf document file.
It's just to inform you about an important letter of objection that our
Association (GreekLUG)
sent over today, to the Greek Ministry of Education, calling for a
cancellation of the current tender for a procurement of 24700 school
laptops.
The technical specs were written quite hastily, and do not concede a
fair chance for participation of Free Software solutions.

thanks a lot for writing this letter, and for sharing it with us!

You may also be able to attack this call for tender via the EU
angle. Given its size, it should be well over the threshold for
posting on ted.europa.eu. I couldn't find it there, but perhaps
you can.

If you can find the tender document in English, then we might be
able to help you identify any possible clashes with European
regulation. We could then lobby the EC to have the tender
cancelled.

The first thing we'll look for is whether it mentions any brand
names of proprietary software products.

Best regards,
Karsten
