I think that, a recurring topic for LibO as well as OOo has been to modularize the Suite. Many people have suggested that it would be easier to develop/download/hook other programmes if the suite were broken up into its distinctive 4 blocks of: Writer, Empress, Calc and Base. In my opinion, I think that this would have been and could be a good idea for all of the above reasons. It would give the suite a little or even quite a bit more flexibility. However, I understand from a dev's point of view, that this would be quite a large re-write of code. I can well imagine, that something like modularizing the suite would most likely need full-time developers funded by extremely generous corporate sponsors.

It sound like something like this would be popular by a few LibO members.
