New member, first post!
Welcome to the community! Glad to have you on board :-)
In light of the “avoidance” of US products in response to recent [threats
of] tariffs, has there been a [noticeable/known] increase in LibreOffice
uptake in Canada, especially by individuals? I am specifically referring to
“avoidance” of Micro$oft products similar to LibreOffice.
As we don't track users we can't say for sure. I've just looked at the
download logs and there's been no noticeable spike in downloads from
Canadian IP addresses, at least.
Is there any [known] effort to publicize LibreOffice in Canada, especially
after [the threat of] recent tariffs
We (TDF) prefer not to get involved in current affairs politics in our
marketing and communications, but I hinted at this recently, which got a
lot of likes and shares:

I like the point made by Jorge in his reply to your message: "promote
all FOSS products as stateless belonging to the global community". Maybe
this is a message we can craft -- but again, without getting into
specifics about certain countries or politicians. Maybe something for
the blog and social media like:
"More and more people are getting concerned by the power and political
influence of tech giants. The world is changing, and people are looking
for options that respect their privacy and give them control over their
data. This is where free and open source software (FOSS) like
LibreOffice steps in: it doesn't belong to any one company or country,
but is truly international, made by communities across the world."
...that's a starting point. What do people think? :-)
BTW, crusader222, if you're interested in growing the LibreOffice
community and/or awareness in Canada, please let us know!
Cheers,
Mike
