Hi all,
I ran into an up and coming project that might be interesting to make contact with. The ex
maintainer of Mozilla Thunderbird Jörg Knobloch along with others have created a 'soft fork' of
Thunderbird and are maintaining it along the same release schedule so security and functionality
are in step.
Numerous patches that improve the end user experience are added, all of this can be seen on their
GitHub page.
This software is akin to the GO-OO fork of Open Office back in the day in my opinion.
As LibreOffice does not contain a PIM/Mail client there could be scope for some sort of
collaboration that would benefit both projects. I have contacted Jörg previously and I think he
would welcome this suggestion. It's not for me to say obviously but I think it's worth pursuing. I
will copy the Betterbird mail address on this post.
This could really give LibreOffice a boost and help fill in a missing piece of the puzzle compared
to competitors such as Microsoft Office. There are already Windows and Linux builds of Betterbird
with a flat pack on the way.
Betterbird. Simply better.
