Is anyone interested in creating a LibreOffice for Education Text Book project?
This can and probably should be setup as its own working group.
The California Open Source Textbook Project http://www.opensourcetext.org/
Is currently seeking Open Source Text Books for The California Public Schools
K-12. They require the material to be presented in a Text Book style. This
would be a good way to get LibreOffice into Word Processing Classes in
California High Schools as well as schools around the world.
...
Just as FYI, you may want to visit the Spoken Tutorial website in India
where Prof. Kannan Moudgalya has been instrumental at raising video
tutorials on the use of LibreOffice as well as printing our line of
LibreOffice textbooks for local Indian communities. The project has been
well received and is a great success story in helping educate on the use
of LibreOffice. The list of tutorials is growing at a nice pace.
Perhaps, it would be a good model to follow and to pitch to prospective
funding agencies.
Have a look at the project page here: [http://www.spoken-tutorial.org]
BTW ... Prof. Kannan is on our marketing list.
Cheers,
Marc
