Hi :)
Previously Charles has said that a first release of a new branch, such as the 3.6.0, can expect to
have more bugs and problems than the last release of the previous branch, such as the 3.5.5. As
the branch matures those unexpected bugs get fixed, often quite quickly, particularly in LO (which
has faster development than most project imo) but that involves downloading and installing updates
or upgrades, such as to the 3.6.4 when that arrives.
The advantages of the new branch are the new features and improved support for non-native formats.
Also people that are 1st to try the new branch (or other early adopters) are likely to find that
any problems they do manage to find get fixed faster because devs are likely to be more interested
and more focused early in the branch's cycle.
Regards from
Tom :)

Hello Tom,
I do indeed not know whether your post was sarcastic or not, but let me
assure you that LibreOffice 3.6 will have bugs. So will the 3.7, the
Linux kernel, Windows 8, the systems management software of the future
US nuclear powerplants, the 3 redundant in-flight systems of Boeings and
Airbuses, the 20 next Firefox versions and pretty much software, past,
present and future. That's the way software is and works
We focus on the upcoming launch of the 3.6 here, and yes, we are
advertising new features and how cool the new version is.
Thanks!
Charles.

Hi :)
No, i really am happy to see so many new features. It's always the way. MSO also has tons of
new features but it has quite a few years between releases compared to LO's 6months or so.
Personally i find LO is far more sophisticated in the way it handles the simple things i need it
for. I suspect the rapid development out-strips MS's by quite a long way even tho it's not
always things i'm ever likely to use. Other people might and might be looking for something with
that sort of functionality. We are all different and have different requirements.
Also, apart from me, the attitude is very positive, friendly and there is a "can do" attitude
that fits well with the underlaying assumption that even new users can learn new tricks. These
are things that put TDF on a plateau far above any competitors. People that haven't yet tried LO
are missing out.

Tom :)

Tom, is it really necessary for you to be so bloody sarcastic and
negative every time someone mentions features and new releases? I
don't think so. What's your problem anyway?

Hi :)
Wow!! That shows a LOT of features and improvements over an already excellent product.
I like the box at the bottom showing a bug and a work-around for it. Does that mean that all
bugs are fixed now? None outstanding anywhere? We can presumably be certain that real-world
machines wont find any unexpected new bugs? New features never leads to new bugs, right?
Unknown bugs don't exist until after they have been widely reported of course.
So, lets ignore all those new features and just sell the 3.6.0 on it having no bugs (well 1 but
it's easy to work-around and will get fixed soon). That's all we need to say about it surely?

Tom :)

I fixed a problem with the URL. The page can now be found at:

All images are now "colorbox" items rather than links (as per Christian's suggestion on the
website list).
I especially like the box at the bottom with details of bugs that aren't fixed yet. That's a
small but stand-out feature that you just don't see in commercial marketing and I think it
speaks well of TDF - well done.
