agree with the benefits.
Personally I don’t think that is ok. I don’t think we should be making
work for our translators unless there is a good reason, and changing the
context of a bunch of strings just for a minor internal improvement in
consistency of the code with no user-visible change is not a good enough
reason.
Especially in the week of the beta release. And especially when in other
cases we will try to use the argument that modifying TWO strings for an
improvement in the UI is “busywork for l10n”.

The ~2000 strings changed in calc was presumably just an oversight when
cherry-picking a patch and hopefully we can fix it with technical means
without having to make work for the translators.
