Hello Samson,

I loveLibre Office and I want to have it in my Language Which is
Amharic (Ethiopian)
There are two ways to localize Libre Office. The first one is in
pootie online or download the po files and do it offline. I choose the
offline and download and translated over 80% of it. a few days ago I
saw this message.
Don't work on Libre Office 3.3 localization any more. Translation of
Libre Office 3.5 started.
I come across this e-mail which says you can upload your translation.
but it doesn't provide any information. I am new to this. would you be
so kind to guide me through this step by step please?
First, sorry for inconvenience, but that's true. If you had been working
on LibO3.3 all that time, some of that effort will be wasted (hopefully,
not much).
I have created an empty libo35x_ui project for Amharic. You can zip up
your translation (make sure the internal file layout is exactly the same
as downloaded) and upload it to
https://translations.documentfoundation.org/am/libo35x_ui/.
If that doesn't work out well, you may want to ask Andras to help you
with migrating your files to 3.5. He might know a few tricks that would
help achieve better percentage after migration to 3.5.
Other than that, I have two suggestions for you:
1) even if you work offline, it makes sense to upload your work to
Pootle from time to time (or whenever you have such possibility). This
would not only ensure that the fruit of your work (even if only partial)
won't be lost for any reason, but would allow help you (and others)
begin testing it right away.
2) please list yourself/your team on the wiki page here:
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Language_Teams. This would ensure
that if anyone else comes up wishing to localize LibreOffice into
Amharic, you could cooperate and work faster instead of working on the
same strings concurrently.
Regards,
Rimas
