Not tested but tried to find my own solution (without reading the mails 
first) and came to exactly the same way to fix it (not yet automated).

So - the way to clean up the language info is correct (gives 
presentation with de-DE locale created from the cleaned template).
The demoscript looks also correct to me (not tested,  but see no problem 
in it).
