Attribution as an author of Calc Guide

Dear active community,

would you mind adding my name to the contributors section of the
Calc Guide since I am the original author of chapter 8?
Respectively, as well, would you please attribute me as the original
author in the prefix of chapter 8, which is published as a separate
file?

As a matter of fact I am no longer active in the project. Also I am
not subscribed to this mailing list anymore (and I hope some
moderator will pick up this message  ).

However the Pivot Table chapter in the manual still reflects the
main structure as well as a good portion of my wording and
illustrations that I created formerly in my initial version in
German and which I published in September 25th, 2008 under the
CC-BY-SA license.

Thanks for your cooperation and sorry for the inconvenience.

Cheers,
Stefan Weigel

Jean,

About the matter raised by Stefan Weigel, I noticed that in the Chapter 08 from Calc Guide 4.1 there is a mention to the original authors:

"/This chapter is based on and updated from Chapter 8 of the OpenOffice.org 3.3 Calc Guide, which was adapted from a German original written by Stefan Weigel and translated into English by Sigrid Kronenberger.../"

Perhaps we can insert something like this in the chapter to be published, a suggestion:

"/This chapter is an adaptation from an originally written in german chapter by Stefan Weigel and translated into English by Sigrid Kronenberger./"

What do you think about this?

Best regards,

Felipe Viggiano

Hi Filipe,

Knowing Stefan from his previous contributions to the project, I don't
believe he is asking for anything more than a simple acknowledgement, by
adding his name to the "Contributors To previous editions" on the
"Copyright" page of this and future guides. This and every other guide
we produce is based on the original OOo guides (most of which Jean was
_mainly_ responsible for), so I don't think it is necessary to add more
explanations of our origins than those that already exist.

Best Regards
Dave

I agree with Dave. And we should extend the acknowledgement to all involved in the past work in the contributors table.

I actually ask myself if we need to set acknowledgements per chapter. One common copyright section with acks for chapters and book should be enough. Right?

OLivier

Hello
Acknowledgements should be kept. However the following should be taken into account.

The acknowledgement for each individual chapter is normally dropped from the front of a chapter when the guide is created.

Acknowledgement should only remain in a chapter if that individual chapter is to be published separately from the guide and remain available for download on the LO website.
