A 5th character style?

HI all

Our 7.0 chapter template has 4 character styles well defined, namely
Emphasis, Strong Emphasis, Keytroke and Code. Their use cases is
described in the template.

After some exercise translating a Guide to pt-BR, I think we need a
fifth style to define some objects in the software UI. Many dialog boxes
elements have names that often confuses the reading when it is not
highlighted and things get worse in other languages.

"Click OK in the Insert field dialog" -> "Insert field"
"In the Security area, choose..." -> "Security".

Are these the cases for a specific character style that better highlight
the several objects in the user interface, not covered by the other 4
characters styles?

Just asking. The cases above occurs several hundred times.

Kind regards and Happy 2021

Hi Olivier,

I also felt the need for a specific formatting Style specific to UI
Elements, more specifically to refer to sentences or commands in dialogs
and context menus.

When updating/reviewing chapters, I came across three different styles used
by authors to refer to dialog commands. For example, consider the Paragraph
dialog in Writer. Some authors would write something like:
- Use the *Line Spacing* drop-down list to.... (Emphasis in "Line Spacing")
- Use the *Line Spacing* drop-down list to.... (Strong Emphasis in "Line
Spacing")
- Use the "Line Spacing" drop-down list to.... (Using quotation marks in
"Line Spacing")

We could either decide which one of the existing styles should be used in
these cases or create a new style for UI elements.

My suggestion is to use Strong Emphasis for UI elements.
