Hello everyone,

I was looking at the second version of Appendix B and the checkmark
appeared just fine for me and it looked really good.

About the word "installed", I agree with Steve that it could sound
repetitive.

To this discussion, I would like to suggest a couple of options as shown in
the screenshots below:

*Suggestion 01* - Highlight the visible buttons with the Strong Emphasis
character style and indicate it in the text before the figure:

*Suggestion 02* - Divide the visible buttons from the available ones:

Hope I could contribute to this matter.

Best regards,
Felipe Viggiano

Hello All,

I am concerned about appending the text "(installed)" to many entries in
these lists. It seems like unnecessary clutter and I would prefer a
simpler visual mark of some sort. I was a bit surprised that Peter felt
that my suggestion of using the Liberation Sans "Combining Asterisk
Above" special character was not really visible - it looked okay on my
screen. Are there any other options that might work?

Regards,

Steve

Appendix 2nd Example

Hello, Peter, and Steve,

I glanced through the second version of the drafted Appendix and wanted
to share my brief thoughts/feedback.
I agree, the layout in the Standard toolbar section is the better
layout
Alphabetical to match the Figure 1 context menu would help provide
quick and easy referencing
The Zapf Dingbats checkmark displayed with no issues, and when
highlighted showed "Visible Button" -- If you're using "(installed)" to
represent the checkmark, maybe make a note in the text of this
substitution?
I hope this helps! Overall, I still think the idea is a great addition
to the guides.

Best,
Sam.

Hello Steve

Alphabetical it is. It is the easiest method and matches the context
menu.

Hi Peter,

In the Calc context, I could nominate a few main toolbars (probably
those that are displayed when a fresh installation is first run -
Standard and Formatting) but beyond that it would be very subjective
as you suggest.

Alphabetical sounds simplest to me, as that would make it easier to
locate details of a specific toolbar of interest within the appendix.

Steve

Appendix 2nd Example

Hello Steve and the Docs Team

One question needs answering.

Do I list the toolbars in the same order as shown in Figure 1,
which is in alphabetical order. This context menu is opened by going
to View > Toolbars on the main menu bar.

The alternative is to put the main toolbars first, then the minor
toolbars. Question is which toolbars are the main toolbars? People
will differ in opinion.

Hi Peter,

Thanks again for your efforts on this.

I prefer the layout of information in the Standard toolbar
section. To me it feels more concise than the table used for the Line
and Filling toolbar.

My only question refers to the tick character. With one of these
ticks selected, on my computer Writer reports that "the current font
is not available and will be substituted" (in the tooltip on the Font
Name box). The tick is visible but I wondered whether that will be the
case for all users?

Regards,

Steve

Appendix 2nd Example

Hello

After some suggestions from the LO Doc Team, I have uploaded a
second example IG7013-Toolbars-Example-Appendix-02 for the Impress
Guide 7.0.

Standard toolbar now has a numbered list in columns instead of a
screenshot for Visible Buttons.
Line and Filling toolbar has a table instead of a screenshot for
Visible Buttons.

Comments and suggestions are more than welcome.
