 All,

I have (finally) finished my 2nd review of the draft Getting Started with
Base chapter of the 6.4 Getting Started Guide. Many apologies for the time
this took, but that was mainly due to the number of significant issues that
were found in the document when I downloaded it after the 1st review had
concluded.

I am recommending that this chapter re-starts its review cycle and Dan
Lewis has kindly agreed to do the 1st review of this update.

The updated file is in the Drafts folder (with changes tracked).

Regards,

Steve Fanning

Following discussion at this evening's Documentation Team meeting, I have
re-taken Chapter 8 (Base) for second review.

It was agreed that in areas of functionality where the system doesn't
currently work as intended, I should review the draft against the last
known working build which, in this case, was said to be 6.3.5.2.

Steve

As indicated in a separate thread, I've struggled to follow the
instructions specified in chapter 8 to create a table using the Table
Wizard. Bug 131576 has been raised.

So for the moment I have abandoned my review and removed my name from the
relevant entry in the Guide Status spreadsheet.

Steve

I have completed a first review of Appendix A (Keyboard Shortcuts)
and placed the updated document in the Feedback folder.

I am concerned about the section entitled "Shortcut keys for drawing
objects" (which only occupies one page). It is not an area that I am very
familiar with and was I unable to find / verify operation for many of the
shortcuts mentioned. This might be due to my unfamiliarity (most likely) or
could be due to inaccuracies in the section (less likely but not
impossible). Please could somebody who is familiar with this material give
the page a quick review?

Steve Fanning

Steve,
Thank you for your review. It's a delight to work with
someone who is
so thorough in catching my "oops, I forgot to replace

well as topics overlooked.
I agree with all your points and am making necessary
changes. I need
to look up a few things.

I recommend that Jean has a chance to review my
changes and comments before
anybody else takes the chapter for a second review
(and have added a
comment accordingly to the tracking spreadsheet).

I intend to do a final check tomorrow against a macOS
installation for
completeness.

I have begun updating the Getting Started Guide
from LO 6.0 to 6.4. I have
completed the Preface and Chapters 1, 2, and 3,
which are in the Drafts
folder ready for others to review. (For this book,
I am using Drafts,
Feedback, and Published folders.) I am now working
on Chapter 4.

I recommend that the rest of you work on updating
other books and leave me
to do this one. Of course, reviewing my work is
also important. I’m aiming
to have all the chapters updated by the end of
January or early February,
around the same time that 6.4 is released.
