Changes and fixes in Nextcloud for ODFAuthors

Hi Drew,

Howdy Sophie,

There is a working document for the workflow that was shared from the last
weekly meeting here:
https://nextcloud.documentfoundation.org/s/bgYgporeN3qHJrm

Thanks a lot
Cheers
Sophie

Hi Sophie,

The link to "LibreOffice Documentation" (previously ODFAuthors) is:
https://nextcloud.documentfoundation.org/apps/files/?dir=/LibreOffice%20Documentation&fileid=80652

Anyone who has access to the "LibreOffice Documentation" top level
folder can create a language sub-folder. When you are in the top level
folder, click the Plus (+) sign to the right of "LibreOffice
Documentation" near the top of the window and choose "New Folder" from
the drop down menu.

As mentioned in my previous post, I intend to do this for those existing
languages on ODFAuthors, who do not yet have their own language
sub-folder on Nextcloud and copy any useful content over from ODF
Authors. From there I propose that the language group structure things
to best meet their own requirements.

The English workflow is still somewhat "work in progress". Drew has sent
you a link to my draft proposal, which was discussed at the last Docs
meeting, but still has some things to be agreed and finalized.
Obviously, language groups are free to follow the English workflow, or
choose an alternative that works best for them.

Hope this helps.

Best Regards
Dave

I have added you to the odfauthor group, you should have the
"LibreOffice Documentation" folder in your top level of NC. Poke me if
you want to give access to other members of the FR community as well

Kind regards

Hello Olivier,

Would you please create an account for me (italian l10n team coordinator for guides, wiki, website), using luca.daghino@libero.it ?

I already have access through the unified login procedure, in case that matters.

Please also write me the necessary link to login.

Thank you!

Luca

Hi Dave, all,

The link to "LibreOffice Documentation" (previously ODFAuthors) is:
https://nextcloud.documentfoundation.org/apps/files/?dir=/LibreOffice%20Documentation&fileid=80652

The link doesn't work for me. I do not get the folder (file not found).
I have had access to the old folder.

Hi Olivier, all,
so it is a final decision for the international docu-team to leave
odfauthors to nextcloud instance? Or are we still in testing mode?

This question is only to tell it to German community if it is the final
decision.

Hello K-J

I added your @libreoffice.org NC login to the odfauthors group.

Kind regards

Olivier

We have been using NC in the last weeks and it proves OK to handle the
job workflow for documentation as a replacement of ODFAuthors Plone
service. We kindly ask the international community to start using
NextCloud@tdf at their earliest convenience. Our plan is to shut down
the Plone service once all communities have migrated.

Thanks a lot, I sent a mail to the FR documentation list with a
proposal. Not sure what the team prefers, we didn't use ODFAuthors by
the past, so let see

I'll send a mail to the projects and marketing-priv list to inform the

Hi,
some questions:

* we would like to invite other language communities to join the new
LibreOffice Documentation share in NextCloud, as Brazilians, Germans and
Turks already did.

1. Is it possible to get a "restrictive" admin for the German folder
(not for me but in general)?

2. Is it possible for the German admin to get an info-mail or something
similar for all actions which happened in German folder? You know that
is easier to make chaos in NC than in ODFAuthors.

3. Is it possible in NC to lock a document for a period of time so that
nobody else can work on it? E.g. for working on a local version?
Sometimes you need to download it for working on it because LOOL doesn't
provide all features.

@infra told me they have to tweak the installation and harmonize with
the single sign-on (SSO).

2. Is it possible for the German admin to get an info-mail or something
similar for all actions which happened in German folder? You know that

Have a look at your user settings in NC in the page "Activity" and set
the actions where you want to be notified. Beware you can be flooded by
mails because it is a global setting for all NC files or activities.

3. Is it possible in NC to lock a document for a period of time so that
nobody else can work on it? E.g. for working on a local version?

Not that I know of, and not in Plone as well. So my advise is to
communicate in the mailing list your activities as before. You can
however, add a comment to the file in the web interface of NC so it is
possible to leave a comment on who is working on the file.

Hello Olivier,

I created the other day a folder for the Italian community in the new NextCloud space. Is it possible for you (or infra members) to move everything in odfauthors/LibreOffice/Italian to this new folder in nextcloud, maybe using scripts?

Or do we have to move all files manually?

And... while trying to login to NextCloud right now, I'm forwarded to this page:

https://nextcloud.documentfoundation.org/apps/user_saml/saml/acs

where I see nothing but 3 buttons on the left (one is JSON)

Thank you!

Hi Luca,

I don't believe it is possible to automate the copying over of content
from ODFAuthors to Nextcloud in the way that you would like.

I copied over all the required English content by downloading the files
locally to one of my computers, then uploading them to Nextcloud.
Getting the files from ODFAuthors has to be done one file at a time :frowning: ,
but Nextcloud does allow for (very careful) drag and drop batch
uploading  .

There appears to be a problem with the redirection of your Nextcloud
login that needs fixing.
Guilhem: Any chance you could help Luca with this?

Hello fellow Authors

This weekend we worked to fix the NextCloud service for Authors. The
issues were a few and all were fixed.

* The previous ODFAuthor share was a folder under my user ID and thus
was limited in size by the default TDF member storage. We created a
group folder where the limits were increased to a workable condition and
similar to the old Plone size.

* The existing files were moved from my share to the group folder (now I
can breathe !).

* Dave Barton is populating the new share with the relevant files picked
in the old Plone, reproducing the folder structure of the old file
storage.

* As decided in the last doc team meeting, the ODFAuthors share was
renamed "LibreOffice Documentation" .

* Authors interested to join and access LibreOffice Documentation share
are invited to ask in this mailing list. I will assign their login to
the "odfauthors"  group.

* we would like to invite other language communities to join the new
LibreOffice Documentation share in NextCloud, as Brazilians, Germans and
Turks already did.

* Everybody is invited to participate in our documentation team meeting
and every Wednesday at 19:00 (Berlin time)

Kind regards
