another remark

Hi Jean

We found another 'error' in chapter 5 'Getting started with Calc'.
In the paragraph 'Sheet navigation' it says 'Dragging the scroll bar
edge to the right may reveal all the tabs' (see below the second last
bullet). As the tabs are now below the scroll bar this isn't right
anymore. When there are more sheets than can be shown, you can use the
arrows on the left to scroll through them.

Kind regards, Kees

Sheet navigation

Each sheet in a spreadsheet is independent of the other sheets, though
references can be linked from one sheet to another. There are three
ways to navigate between sheets in a spreadsheet:

Using the Navigator – when the Navigator is open (Figure 8),
double-click on any of the listed sheets to select the sheet.

Using the keyboard – use key combinations Ctrl+Page Down to move one
sheet to the right and Ctrl+Page Up to move one sheet to the left.

Using the mouse – click on one of the sheet tabs at the bottom of the
spreadsheet to select that sheet.

If your spreadsheet contains a lot of sheets, then some of the sheet
tabs may be hidden behind the horizontal scroll bar at the bottom of
the screen. If this is the case:

Using the four buttons to the left of the sheet tabs can move the tabs
into view (Figure 9).

Dragging the scroll bar edge to the right may reveal all the tabs.

Right-clicking on any of the arrows opens a context menu where you can
select a sheet (see Figure 10).

Hello all.I'd like to (try to) help by updating this tutorial.
I've found it here: ODFAuthors > LibreOffice > English> Getting Started > Published LO 5.2 > GS5.2 Ch5 Calc, is this the correct document??

So, can I use/test my LO Calc Version: 5.3.0.3 to see how it works, and update the document? Or do I have to install LO version 5.2 to test it?
Another question: is there a bug in the bug list related to this task??

Kind RegardsAndrea.

Hello Andrea

Hello all.I'd like to (try to) help by updating this tutorial.
I've found it here: ODFAuthors > LibreOffice > English> Getting Started > Published LO 5.2 > GS5.2 Ch5 Calc, is this the correct document??

Yes.

So, can I use/test my LO Calc Version: 5.3.0.3 to see how it works, and update the document? Or do I have to install LO version 5.2 to test it?

Yes. But at this moment, better is to update the file for 5.3 release.

The process is

1) Download the file

2) Save it as GS5305-GettingStartedWithCalc-AM.odt , where 53 is the
release and AM are your initials. Open it in LibreOffice

3) Fill your personal data in Tools -> Options -> LibreOffice -> User data

4) Enable track changes (Edit -> Tack changes -> Record)

5) Update the contents.

6) when finished with the edition, upload to ODFAuthors > LibreOffice >

Getting Started > "Draft LO 5.3" folder

7) Notify this list when you're done. It will be reviewed.

Another question: is there a bug in the bug list related to this task??

Although a bug can be open, the process does not involve yet this formalism.

If you want to extend the update of the Getting Started Guide, please
have a look at this message:

Thank you very much, Olivier. You're so nice.
I  have another question here: "better is to update the file for 5.3 release... Download the file, save it as...." - I didn't find the Getting Started version 53. The file I've downloaded is = GS5205-GettingStartedWithCalc.odt

So, should I rename it from (GS5205-GettingStartedWithCalc.odt) to (GS5305-GettingStartedWithCalc-AM.odt)??
"If you want to extend the update of the Getting Started Guide" - I've seen this message in the list but I didn't understand the requests. So, after I update this Getting Started I'll talk to you about the other task, ok??

Hello Andrea

Thank you very much, Olivier. You're so nice.
I have another question here: "better is to update the file for 5.3 release... Download the file, save it as...." - I didn't find the Getting Started version 53. The file I've downloaded is = GS5205-GettingStartedWithCalc.odt

So, should I rename it from (GS5205-GettingStartedWithCalc.odt) to (GS5305-GettingStartedWithCalc-AM.odt)??

Yes, exactly. The new book is an update of the current 5.2 book
contents. We do it chapter by chapter and at the end we assemble (build)
the book.

"If you want to extend the update of the Getting Started Guide" - I've seen this message in the list but I didn't understand the requests. So, after I update this Getting Started I'll talk to you about the other task, ok??

OK. The process of updating our literature is to review the text and
images and add the improvements of the new software release when
applicable. The message I referred contains the changes I noticed from
LO 5.2 when LO 5.3 was released.

I hope this helps...

Olivier

Hi Olivier, thanks for your help. It's done.
Updates:- 'Sheet navigation paragraph, page 17.
- 'AutoCalculate' paragraph, page 39. - 'Page Breaks'paragraph, page 44.
I also fixed the issues highlighted on these two emails:

Hi OlivierI just took a look at this path "when finished with the edition, upload to ODFAuthors > LibreOffice > English> Getting Started >  "Draft LO 5.3" folder", and the file that I've uploaded is not there anymore. Can you tell me what happened? Thank you . Andrea.

Hi OlivierI'm looking for a new task for writing something. I don't have any preference between Writer or Calc.
I can pick up a bug here https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/showdependencytree.cgi?id=80430&hide_resolved=1 or a task from the 'Getting Started 5.3 task list'.  I'd prefer to work in a 'html' format like the Release Notes (https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/5.3) but I don't understand this list of task:
* Update of the (new) dialog box for Area in objects (Several chapters) - I don't know what/where is this dialog box
* The new Safe mode (Ch 1 Introduction) - I've found the 'Safe Mode' session. What should I do? Test is and see if the information there is up to date?
* Table styles and Table Autoformatting in Writer (Ch 3 Styles and templates and Ch 4 Writer) - Table styles is chapter 2.2- Chapter 4 is 'Impress', not Writter ??!!
* The MUFFIN - Notebook bar (Ch 1 Introduction) - I didn't find this in the RN
* Extension manager revamp (Ch 1 INtroduction) - ???
* The page panel in sidebar (Ch 4 - Writer) - I've just found sidebar in chapter 11 GUI
* Customization of context menus (Chap 14 - Customizing LibreOffice)
Can you help me here? Thanks, Andrea.

HI Andrea

Your file is where you left it. Have you logged in to verify?
