Hello Documentation community
The help content of LibreOffice has some gaps that we would like to
fill. LibreOffice developers have implemented many new featues but the
corresponding help pages are not there.
To make a long story short, I have collected in a metabug several of
these gaps, to make sure we don't forget to write about them [1].
The good news is that this is a nice contribution the docmentation
community can do for Libreoffice: write about these features, make them
show up and be used.
That is easy: it can be a simple writer document, a personal blog post,
a wiki page or whatever eletronic text media that will allow us to
insert in the help content, after proper formatting and edition.
For example, some of the missing features are:
- The front page feature in Writer #80590
- How to access the remote files (CMIS) #80652
- Calc's XML source usage and setup #80658
- Calc's Data streams usage and setup #80367
- many other issues in [1]
Contribuitons to the open issues can be done directy in the bug page or
you can send it to me and I'll handle it.
I put below a framework to help authors to write about a feature for the
help content. But if you prefer to write yourself a blog post
independently, that is fine as well. In order to use your contribution
into LibreOffice, it will be necessary to license it, either in MPLV2
license or in a Creative Commons suitable license. Of course, if you
authorize the use of your text in LibreOffice Help, it will be inserted
as a patch and the credits will go to you as author.
It worth to say that the text in a LO help page will be translated into
all LO supported languages.
