Calc Guide?

What's happening with the Calc Guide? Are we waiting for the French
team to make suggestions for improving our old v3.4 chapters during
v4.0 updates, or are we going ahead with v4.0 updates now?

I'm still planning to keep going through, live intervenes.

Don't give up on me yet.

Others should work on the book too, in an effort to get it done faster. Hey folks? Anyone out there? --Jean

Hi
Calc, Draw and Math 4.0.x have no chapters on the wiki yet.  Can we skip that release for those books and move straight to their 4.1.x versions?

Impress is 1/3rd done on the wiki, could that skip straight to the 4.1.x too?

The Base Handbook is only 2 chapters short and getting that finished would be fantastic.

Almost all guides have a recent release.  Calc's previous one is the oldest and was out just last summer!  (ie not really all that long ago).  Note that MS doesn't get their guides out half as often as this team manages and they have more resources and paid staff to do it.  So, i think this team keeps proving how awesome they are.

As I have said before, I am willing to help out, as long as people are
willing to guide me.

Pick a chapter and dive in. Ask questions as you go. --Jean

Which version to do is up to the people working on the individual books.

BTW, the Base Handbook translation is of the 3.5 version; we haven't started translating the 4.0 book, and I don't know if Hazel or anyone wants to tackle that. I hope to have the last two chapters published this week, even though some questions remain. Those questions can be considered for the v4 book if they are still relevant.

OK then. My first 2 questions:
1) do we take the older guides (in this case 3.4, I think) and change
anything that is different in LibO since then
2) Is there a list anywhere of every new feature / visual change made by
the devs?

Comments inline.

Yes.

Yes.

One more question: Would CG3400-Preface_2013-05-29_KP be the correct layout
of the Draft Preface, for example.

Also, should I use the drafts made from the French guide Chapters 1 & 2,
which is already in ODFAuthors, or just start from 3.4?

If you want to review Ch 1 or 2, use the drafts made from the French guide Chapters 1 & that are in the Drafts folder. Might be more immediately useful to start with one of the later chapters, though. Everyone starts from the beginning of a book and the later chapters rarely get reviewed properly.

BTW, I will ask Andrew Pitonyak if he'll update the two Calc chapters on macros.

Layout?
If you mean the filename, I prefer to have the date at the end, after the reviewer's initials, but either will do. Hyphens in the date aren't necessary, but are OK.
