New volunteer for documentation

Hello,

My name is Shannon Johnson and I would like to become a volunteer to help write documentation for LibreOffice. I have recently received a Bachelor of Science degree in Technical Writing. The experience that I have gained for technical writing has been through various coursework and projects throughout my college career. Although, I have never taken on the role professionally, I would love to help with writing and revising user documentation for LibreOffice.

I am unsure how this is coordinated or where to begin, so if someone could let me know where I can start to begin helping out with documentation that would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to working with everyone and gaining experience in my field along with contributing to such a great program.

Sincerely,
Shannon Johnson

Welcome!
A good place to start is by reading some of the material linked from
this wiki page:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Documentation/Development

I have created an account for you at odfauthors.org, where we do much
of our work. Mostly people choose what they want to do and just do it,
but I'm available to track and coordinate efforts as needed. This page
tracks who's working on what for the user guides:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Documentation/Development/UserGuideTasks

We spend a lot of time keeping the user guides up to date and
improving on them, but we also have other projects to work on; many --
both large and small -- are on the "wish list" awaiting people to
adopt them.

Right now we are completing the Writer Guide update to LibreOffice
v4.0 and looking for people to work on updating the Calc Guide.

Hi
We have a few new people that have started recently so its a good time to ask "stupid questions" on this mailing list because it's likely to help others too.

Some of the wikis about how to get started might still be a bit confusing so if you have suggestions then let us know or just make the changes to see if they do help, but again let us know if you want people to check how it all looks.  We have put quite some effort into making them right but they could probably still use a little work.  The main focus is usually on documentation for LO Office users rather than for ourselves.

So welcome to all and regards from
Tom
