Unable to log in to ODFAuthors?

In the 3.4 chapter template--in a part that I didn't work on, BTW.

The sentence was rewritten, though, employing different style names--as all the OOo prefixes were deleted (renamed, except for the factory predefined names) and spaces were entered between words in some names.

Gary

IIRC, there are a lot of bizarre things in that template, which I'm
not concerned about because the template itself is going to be
replaced soon anyway with one that is very different in terms of style
names and usage, amongst other things.

--Jean

I already adapted a different template for myself a while ago, which was based upon the older 3.4 template. So far, only two list styles--Numbering 1 and List 1--were employed to produce 3-level nested ordered and unordered lists, using the factory-predefined List and Numbering series of paragraph styles. IOW, all those dozens of alphabet-soup OOo custom style names were replaced by just a small number of factory defaults.

Gary

That's one of the things that will be in the LOv4 template: much
simplified list styles.

Perhaps you'd share with us the styles you've defined?

--Jean

It is some 25 degrees below normal today and windy, so instead of working outside around my place I did a bit of work on revising my template--which is not yet formatted the way I want it. [What a crappy last three months: cold with more snow and lots more rain than usual...] There is still some OOo formatting in the exposition that needs extracting. But a critical mass of my template is done.

The OOoMenuPath was simply replaced by Strong--a bolded character style. Stuff like that... Likewise, other styles were renamed or replaced (usually) by factory defaults. Using typical MS Word style names as much as possible (except for Normal) makes Word->LO migration easier.

When the weather is lousy, I upload material about my projects and their files and other stuff onto my TE forum (or online in my websites for storage), so that I know where to conveniently locate them instead of checking my computers. Much of whatever I do on those projects gets updated every so often. So, anybody can inspect whatever is there.

Gary

I have never been able to find a template on either your forum or your
website, despite your referring to them on numerous occasions.

--Jean

Whatever... I have four forums (but three are essentially older archives), in various stages of incompletion.

Try this one. (It is the same forum that is in the e-mail signature.):

Hi
Is that maintained separately from the wiki or does it auto-update when the wiki is updated?

Btw i was wondering if Chapter 5 was meant to be numbered Chapter 4 and Chapter 6 as Chapter 5.  The previous wiki layout made it a bit unclear that a chapter number had been skipped but when i made it look more like the "Published" page it suddenly became clear, or maybe i stuffed-up and lost Chapter 4 somehow?  I take care not to lose data but i can't think why else it might be missing!

Apols and regards from

Gary's site is unrelated to the TDF/LibreOffice wiki or the ODFAuthors website. He maintains it separately. Kind of like my personal website Taming LibreOffice.

The Contributor's Guide, which I maintain, does have a missing Chapter 4 at this time. I updated the wiki to show its name and "coming soon". It's intended for info on using social media, including the Docs Team's blog, to promote our work.

Hi,

Hello,

I can't log in to ODFAuthors, with a "the username you entered could not be

What is the username you'd like to have?

Hi Chris

Hello,

My username was chris69.

Thanks for your help.

done.

Hi Chris,

Hello,

I can log in, but I can't access to the LibreOffice > English folder : I
only have the Deutsch folder. Is it normal ?

No, it is not normal. In fact, I changed yesterday the workflow on the
website, and this was the result of this.
I quickly published all the language folders, so that you should be
able to see everything again.

What I did not do, was publishing the subfolders - that has every
language group now to do themselves.
First change state to "internally published", once this is done,
change to "externally published".

Then everyone can see those folders.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Sigrid

Hello Sigrid,

Could you also make the "Nederlands" folders visible?
In the mast I had administrator rights for the website. Can I get them back?

Many thanks
Best regards

Leo

Sorry for the delay in responding.

Yeah, Jean was somewhat correct in that my forums deal with topics that interest me. They are essentially webblogs in the form of forums, due to their better organization and usefulness. They basically cover my personal projects, plus some other current topics that keep me busy when the weather keeps me from working on my repairing the roof or residing the house and other things.

After almost three months of wet weather with temperatures some 5 to 25 degrees below normal, we finally got close to normal for two days last week and even one day a degree or so above normal. Normally, the Detroit area of Michigan has the mildest winters of the entire north central states, with winter temps like those expected down in Tennessee--quite a ways south of here. But today's high temp is expected to drop some 25 degrees again as yet another deep Alberta Clipper is barreling down upon North Dakota, lowering temps as far south as Texas until Thursday. So, I put in a little time on my template revision last night.

The template is fairly workable, but with rough formatting--though workable. Perhaps, somebody might improve on it or otherwise mention that the formatting is OK, as is. Be advised that it has US English general formatting as to page size and all, and it is formatted according to my own personal preferences. Any competent power user or template designer could very easily adapt it to other uses. I decided to make just one specialized template and have others tweak it further, making it usable for other localizations, etc.

Anyway, the revised template can be located in the forum listed in my e-mail signature. But, this URL makes finding it easier:

Gary

Hi,

A couple of weeks ago I asked for a login to ODFAuthors. Maybe I missed something or maybe I am not entitled to a login, yet ... I am a newcomer. I only just started and am still in the process of working myself into this stuff.

I have not heard back from anybody (or missed the email). My desired login is thecarpy, the folders I would like access to would be English, French, and German - I am native in all three.

Thanks in advance,

HP

Hi Hans-Peter,

sorry, I missed your email. I created now a login for you. You should have
received an email with a link to set your password.

Again, my apologies to take such a long time.

Oh, and welcome to the team!

Sigrid

Hi Sigrid,

No problem, I could have come back earlier but was unsure if I was entitled to an account ... I have received it and am in there now.

Thanks,

HP

Hi
Nicely done and welcome in! :)  We do sometimes miss emails to tghe list so if no response for a day or 2 then it's worth adding a comment to your thread.  In the past i tried to keep on top of that sort of thing but in last 2 months or so have been really lousy.  Most of the rest of the team are very busy with the actual work so they have a reasonable excuse!

Tom

Hi Rui,

I haven't seen an email from you either asking for an account.
If you can tell me the username you'd like to have I can create an account
for you as well.
Just reply back to the mailinglist.
