Google Plus

This may seem a little strange topic for this mailing list ...
I received an email from Google Plus stating that Sigrid Carrera had added me to her circle on Google Plus. I also belong to Google Plus, but I don't quite know what to think of the email. Does someone know her and perhaps her email address? Since this came out of the blue, I would like to know why. Also, if someone knows her, perhaps you could get her to send me an email explaining why. If it has something to do with discussions about Base, that would be fine. I could easily add her to my circle as well.
So, could someone help me with this?

Hi
I definitely recognise the name from either LibreOffice or Ubuntu mailing lists.  Fairly sure it's from LibreOffice ones.  I generally ignore anyone's request to join them in social networking sites.  Not quite sure about G+.  A very familiar name though.

Sorry u can't help but i will try to keep my eye out for any posts from them from now on to let you know a bit more about who they are.

Awesome..... I have email from Sigrid dating back some years on the OOo mailing lists and she is in my OpenOffice circle on Google+. I chatted with Jean about Sigrid when we got together last summer. Note that she is also in Jean's circle.

Pretty sure it is because you are active here.

Off hand, I would say that she is a long time community member and there is no cause for alarm.

If you really want her email address, shoot me an email off list.

Hi
I knew i was going to be embarrassed when i found out because the name is very familiar.  My feeble excuse is that it's horribly early in the morning here.  So early that it's still dark and really still more like yday than today.

In Nabble i think the user profile is

Hello Dan

I have had similar sort of emails about Google Plus from people I do not know but looking as if they came from people in the Document Foundation. I simply deleted the emails straight away as unsolicited emails looking genuine can easily be nasty spam.

To me, if people want in the Document Foundation want to join you to join their circle, then they should contact you personally first before sending out the invite.

I have looked at Google Plus, but have not joined. I am still not sure of its security and probably get inundated with friend request, just like Facebook.

It is funny that no one of you know Sigrid.
You will find her name in almost all LibO documentations as a
contributor. Maybe as" Sigrid Kronenberger". There you will also find
her husband Daniel Carrera. She is a member of German nl and a
ODFAuthors admin and afaik a admin for this list. She is a big worker
(but in silence) for the OOO- and LibO-documentation.

@Dan: I send you the email address PM.

Hi
I know i know her and i know we have had off-list discussions about LO too but my memory is a tricky slippery thing sometimes and likes to keep things just out of reach at odd moments.  I think Sigrid gave one of the newer people here their ODFAuthors login and she has been a strength to list discussions too.

I long ago deleted my Facebook account. I have retained my google account, primarily because I use an Android Phone, which integrates well with Google (obviously).

One thing that Google+ has that I don't remember facebook having, is that I can define a "circle", and then I can define what a person in that circle can see. So, I have an OpenOffice circle, that can see different things than my family circle or my friend circle; not that I bother to post much of anything ever, so there is really not much to see. One advantage, however, is that it does provide a means for me to quickly connect to a particular group. So, Peter, should I add you to my circle

OK Andrew

Send me a request and I shall join your circle.

You're right Andrew: Facebook has anything close to circles concept.
Is rather a big bag of contacts, all of them bombarding you with
nonsense
I don't use neither FB, I didn't erase my account just because some
relatives that live abroad and still stay in FB. I do use and post
regularly in Google+.
And I always welcome unknown people with interesting things to
say.

Cheers,
Lailah

Facebook does have a Circles-like system, and had them before G+ even came
about. They are called Lists, and you can choose which list to send to - if
you wanted to post to more than one list, you chose "Custom"
