How to edit words and phrases in a pdf

Hi
Normally when i open a pdf document in LibreOffice each line
of text seems to be contained in it's own text-box which i can then
move around or perhaps delete but i can't seem to edit the words inside
the line, eg to correct typos.

Is it possible to edit pdfs in the same way that we can edit Odts?  Do i need to add an Extension?

If the PDF had been created as a "hybrid" PDF (which LO can do, if you choose that option on the General tab when creating the PDF), then you could do what you want. Simon Phipps wrote an article about this recently.

Regular PDFs open in Draw. You may be able to edit the words, IF you have the font installed, but I don't recall the magic trick to getting it to work or the conditions under which it works or doesn't. I do recall it was awkward and only good for things like typos.

Hi
Thanks :)  Yes, Andreas on the users-list pointed out that you can usually click into an individual box and edit within that box.  It's trickier when you need to edit a lot of lines.

We can change the size of the text-boxes and then copy&paste stuff from some of the other boxes but it's not very practical.  It seems a bit weird to have to buy a pdf-writer but at least i can avoid the Adobe one! :)

The PDF format is not designed to be editable. All of the products
out are hacks, and go against the intent of PDF. And it would be
encouraging bad habits if developers made doing something like editing
a PDF easier. The current functionality of editing small parts is OK.
For larger editing tasks, people need to use formats designed to
transfer information that is meant to be updated.

There's an extension called "Pdf import" that let's you
edit a pdf as it was an Impress or Draw file.

I know is late but I hope it will help you anyway.
