Hi :)
Interesting that they ask for donations once a year rather than all year. The LO marketing team
has been discussing doing something like that too but choosing around April time as it's the end of
the financial year for a lot of corporate organisations globally (apparently. I know it's true in
England but i thought that was a quirk)
Regards from
Tom :)

Subject: Public Discussion for Version 4.0 of the CC Licenses Underway
Reply-To: "Creative Commons" <development@creativecommons.org>
Dear CC Supporter,
We are very pleased to let you know that after a full year in the planning and preparation phase,
we have launched the public discussion process for Version 4.0 of the Creative Commons license
suite. As someone who is interested in the future of CC, we invite you to participate in this
discussion, which you can read more about here.
Stewardship is not a responsibility that CC takes lightly; nor is it a responsibility that anyone
in our community can take lightly if we are to be successful in promoting the open values we
share. Our licenses provide the infrastructure on which communities like Wikipedia, Flickr, Open
Courseware, and the Public Library of Science depend and, still more importantly, thrive. Our
charge as license stewards is to ensure a healthy and transparent discussion process that
accounts for and anticipates shifts in public policy and legal developments taking place around
the world. Unfortunately, that work isn't free.
If license versioning is not up your alley, you can still show your support by donating to our
annual campaign going on now. Our legal efforts are on your behalf. Help support CC at this
critical juncture, where we are building the license suite on which all of us will depend for the
next decade and beyond, and help us achieve our goal of creating the most robust license suite
yet.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes for a happy holiday season,
Diane Peters
CC General Counsel
p.s. Don't forget to let your friends and family know that all CC donations will be matched,
dollar-for-dollar, through December 25 up until $100,000!
