Alfresco site

I'm confused about where to put things on the Alfresco site. Within the
LibreOffice space, there is a space for Writer Guide 3.3, but also spaces
for different stages of development, and there's also something named
Catalog. Where do we put things? Is Catalog picking up info from elsewhere
on the site? (Kind of looks like it.) I know we've been using Alfresco as a
sandbox of sorts, so is it still at that stage or has some preferred usage
emerged?

Also, can the timeout on logins be changed? I get really irritated having to
log on several times a day (and then having to find my way back to wherever
I was) because I'm using the site only intermittently. Or is there some
usage issue with inactive users?

Just for the next week, or until Jeremy or Samphan suggest otherwise
(whichever is the sooner), I'd suggest putting documents in "Company
Home > LibreOffice Documentation > Drafts".

This will put them at the beginning stage of Samphan's workflow, and
we can start feeding them through.

Or else, you can put material in your own workspace. You can create
folders there, if you want. In that case, we will move it into the
main workflow.

Sorry about the confusing situation. We will get things sorted out quickly.

This is Alfresco's default behavior. I will see how to extend the
login recognition time next week. But I can also suggest that you
install the browser plugin from lastpass.com (available for most
browsers), because it can enter login info automatically in fields for
you, and even log you in automatically.

I have it, and it does, but I still get tossed back to the start of the
Alfresco navigation and have to go through several levels to get to the
folder I was working in earlier. Unless there's some trick to this that I
haven't discovered yet?

Did you try bookmarking the page?

David Nelson

No, because the page I'm working on isn't always going to be the same page,
and IMO using a bookmark on a moving target would mean as much mucking
around as finding the page itself. A well-behaved program takes the user
back to where they were before having to log in.

You can try just leaving the page open in your browser? Then, if it
wants you to log in again, it will take you back to the same page
after...

HTH.

David Nelson

Short version: I did. It didn't. But that's what I want it to do.

Longer version: The page I wanted *was* open in the browser. Not realising I
had been kicked out, I tried to do something, was sent to the login page,
logged in, and was *NOT* returned to the page I had been on; I was sent to
the first page. This happens every time; doesn't matter what page I was on.
