mostly as a note to myself for future reference, how to build older branches with glibc 2.27, which doesn't include ancient NIS junk any more, this works for me: 

1. dnf install libnsl2-devel

2. add this line to autogen.input:

ZLIB_CFLAGS=-I/usr/include/tirpc

no patch required...
