Using the linux subsystem on windows for building libreoffice for windows

Good Afternoon, I have started and found out how to work with the linux subsystem on windows. Has anyone tried to use it as an alternative to mingw to build for windows? I have noticed and observed that its based on ubuntu but I am not sure what version. Would this be something that is worth looking into if it means that there is potential to use a linux system to build natively on windows itself? --
